Success With RokStories Installation
Have you tried to install the RokStories Joomla extension, only to find yourself pulling your hair out? I have some tips that will help you succeed in setting up this fabulous extension -- the one that appears in the "blue" area of this website.
Recently, as I set up the "derreklemar.com" website, I downloaded and installed the RokStories extension provided by RocketTheme.com (note: membership required, but it's money well-invested!) I had previously set up a version of this extension on another website, and now I needed to have it here.
Please note: - before proceeding, make sure you are using a Joomla 1.5 installation, along with one of the great templates from RocketTheme.
After much head-scratching, and fussing at the computer monitor, I figured out how to successfully get this widget to work -- with a little help from the support team at RocketTheme.
Check Folder/Directory Permissions
You'll save a lot of time by immediately changing permissions on all of the directories inside your Joomla installation where images can (or could) reside, as the RokStories widget needs write permission in order to create thumbnails.
Why they don't use the /tmp directory for this purpose is beyond me, but I digress...
If that doesn't solve your problems, drop by the RokStories Support Forum and you'll find plenty of folks who will guide you.
